Breakaway is a large detached bungalow in Aveley, near Lakeside shopping centre and South Ockendon. Breakaway provides respite for carers by offering short breaks for people under 65 who are disabled or have more complex needs.
This includes learning disabilities, people with challenging behaviour and/or those with physical/sensory impairments. The bungalow has been refurbished to a high standard and is fully accessible for wheelchair users. The service is open 365 days a year and provides support 24 hours a day.
Who can use the service?
Breakaway offers all levels of support on a short term basis to disabled people aged 18 to 65.
Features of the scheme:
Each person will have their own bedroom when they visit Breakaway. Additional shared facilities include a lounge, kitchen, dining room, laundry, bathroom and spacious communal garden. We have created a relaxing and homely environment to make the people who come to stay at Breakaway feel welcome.
Support
Breakaway has trained, qualified and experienced staff, who will provide waking night cover. Support is provided in a flexible manner to meet the individual requirements of each guest. Staff encourage participation in a wide range of activities, both at the bungalow and in the local area.
