East Thames provides high quality supported housing and care services funded by Supporting People, Local Authorities and health grant. Our high quality staff teams work with people to achieve their goals and aspirations which build their confidence and independence to manage all areas of their life including housing, training, and employment.
Our services are regularly visited to assess there quality. Local Authority Supporting People teams review services funded by this grant using the Supporting People Quality Assessment Framework and the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate (CSCI) review our registered care services.
Supporting People assess us against six core objectives:
• Needs and risk
• Assessment
• Support planning
• Health and safety
• Fair access and diversity
• Protection of vulnerable adults
These objectives are graded from A to D. A is the highest meaning ‘excellent service with good partnership working and service user involvement’.
Back in 2004/5 we were achieving largely C and some B grades. We have been continually working to improve our services and many of which are now achieving A and B grades. These include:
• Brookhaven Women's Refuge: highest award - Six A's grades
• Dames Road extra care for older people: Two A’s for health and safety/adult protection, B grades for other areas
• Waltham Forest Mental Health: Three A’s for health and safety/adult protection/complaints, B grades for other areas
• Phoenix Court and Tower Hamlets older people services: Grades improved from D’s to B’s
• 1st assessment of Redbridge Foyer young people services: Three B’s and three C’s. Only a few minor actions are required to achieve all grades B by September 2008.
• Floating Support – Mental Health Service: A in adult protection
• Painesbrook Court extra care for older people: A in complaints
• Havering services for people with a learning disability : 5 B's
Similarly C.S.C.I. assess us against 43 standards and award a rating of no stars to three stars. Generally our services have achieved at least two stars with a recent scheme Laburnums registered care home achieving the highest award of three stars.
